From Mobile Apps to Multi-Agent Systems: My 25-Year+ Journey in Tech

How I went from building 250+ mobile apps to pioneering AI agent systems that generate millions in revenue

🚀 The Journey: Mobile → AI → Multi-Agent Systems

Hi, I'm Matteo Gazzurelli. I'm a Fractional CTO who helps companies implement production-ready AI agent systems using Google ADK, CrewAI and other AI Agents Frameworks.

But let me tell you how I got here – it's been quite a ride.

📱 Chapter 1: The Mobile Revolution (2008-2023)

I started as an Android mobile developer back in 2008, I rush to buy the fist Nexus phone to try an app that I coded - Busy Call: a fake caller where you can set a timer and a call screen popup with a contact you set.

In 2013, I founded DuckMa in Brescia, Italy, with a simple mission: build mobile apps that actually work. Not just pretty interfaces, but robust, scalable applications that solve real business problems.

When Google released Flutter, I saw the future. We became early adopters and eventually one of the leading Flutter development agencies in Europe. This decision alone saved our clients millions in development costs while delivering native performance on both platforms.

🤖 Chapter 2: The AI Awakening (2020-2024)

In late 2020, I had an epiphany. While delivering yet another successful mobile app, I realized something: AI wasn't just another feature – it was going to rebuild everything we knew about software.

I made a decision that surprised everyone: pivot hard into AI.

I didn't just dabble. I went all-in: My Sysadmin and mobile background gave me a unique advantage: I understood production systems. While others were building chatbot demos, I was shipping revenue-generating AI.

🎯 Chapter 3: The Multi-Agent Revolution (2025-Present)

In early 2025, Google quietly released the Agent Development Kit (ADK). While everyone was focused on ChatGPT, I saw what Google was building: enterprise-grade infrastructure for autonomous AI agents.

I became one of the first ADK practitioners outside Google, and the results were staggering. While mastering ADK, I discovered CrewAI's elegant approach to multi-agent orchestration and Claude Agent SDK. The combination was powerful and this expertise made me unique in the market.

Through this journey, I am coding with AI – I wrote more code in the last year than I did in my entire life!
